Project I&C Engineer – Arcadis – Detroit, MI

Arcadis, the leading global consultancy, is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) System Design Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Detroit, MI. The role supports diverse environmental remediation, industrial, and municipal water and wastewater projects.

The I&C Systems Design Engineer will lead the design, integration, and testing of SCADA and instrumentation systems for a portfolio of water and wastewater projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop I&C design documents, P&n, SCADA architecture, and control schematics.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical and electrical engineering leads to produce construction documentation.
• Program PLC logic and configure HMI/SCADA systems across multiple platforms.
• Conduct factory and site acceptance testing, field checkout, and system startup.
• Provide technical support throughout project execution and mentor junior engineers.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.
• 7+ years of I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in the water/wastewater market.
• Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain a license within 12 months.

• 10+ years of experience developing bid and construction documents.
• PLC/HMI programming, configuration and startup experience.

• Autocad and Revit basic knowledge; self‑directed multi‑tasking.
• Excellent oral and written communication and teamwork;
  Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Advanced knowledge of instrumentation, controls, SCADA networks, fiber optic and telemetry systems.
• Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel (25%).
