Mission Critical Telecommunications Engineer 3

The position involves the design, coordination, and implementation of telecommunication structured cabling systems for high‑density AI‑driven data centers. The engineer shall be responsible for researching, understanding, developing, and coordinating the engineering solution of the telecommunication cabling, equipment, pathways, spaces, and grounding and bonding for inside and outside plant infrastructure. They will interface with the customers, project leadership, field leadership, other trades, manufacturers, and other telecommunications engineers.

The engineer will produce constructible engineering deliverables that illustrate telecommunications device locations, space layouts, mounting and assembly instructions, cable connections, administration plans, acceptance test plans and reports, quality control plans, studies and calculations, material lists, cabling schedules, operations manuals, and warranties to support design, installation, and closeout. They will oversee technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle, assist with solution development, troubleshoot construction discrepancies, and contribute to schedule and budget planning.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, identify, coordinate, and track project requirements.
  • Coordinate communication connectivity requirements including backbone and inter‑rack cabling, outlet types, media and connector types, system topology, and device locations with Data & Wireless Networking, Audio‑Visual, Security, Mechanical, Electrical, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate detailed telecommunications space plans with Architecture, MEP, and Electronic Systems.
  • Coordinate detailed pathway designs to support inside and outside plant cabling, including fill calculations, BIM.
  • Identify and respond to Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Produce detailed design and construction drawings in AutoCAD or REVIT.
  • Produce detailed telecommunications construction specifications.
  • Create and manage cable run lists and system labeling.
  • Create and manage cable acceptance test plans.
  • Identify products, create Bill of Materials, and develop product data deliverables.
  • Apply M.C. Dean Quality Control process to ensure engineering deliverables comply with requirements and standards.
  • Perform site surveys, produce reports, and propose solutions based on observations.
  • Produce pre‑fabrication designs and test procedures for Pre‑Installation and Check‑Out (PITCO) activities.
  • Learn and lead in the design of active systems such as nurse‑call, public address, distributed antenna, and emergency phones.
  • Develop knowledge of NFPA codes, TIA Standards, BICSI publications, and other relevant criteria.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years recent experience in telecommunications infrastructure industry with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 3+ years recent experience in telecommunications infrastructure industry with a Master’s Degree in Engineering field.
  • Detail‑oriented, motivated, self‑starter; able to work independently and lead in a team environment.
  • Willing to expand knowledge base to new systems and technologies as project demands dictate.
  • Basic understanding of TIA standards and NFPA Codes.
