Job SummaryFishbeck has a full-time opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team. This position can be based in either our Farmington Hills, MI or Toledo‑Maumee, OH office. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership and project oversight on complex projects within the healthcare and higher education markets, with additional exposure to industrial and municipal projects. The role requires a self‑motivated professional with strong leadership, planning, and communication skills who can serve as a trusted client partner while mentoring and developing junior staff.
DesiredEducation
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Architectural/Engineering (A/E) consulting business.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Demonstrated experience leading mechanical design efforts for healthcare or higher education projects; industrial or municipal experience a plus.
- Ability to lead and manage mechanical design teams through all phases of project delivery.
- Experience acting as a project manager or engineering lead, including managing budgets, schedules, and work assignments.
- Proven ability to serve as the primary client contact with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience pursuing new work, developing client relationships, preparing proposals, and participating in interviews.
- Proficiency with Revit Building Information Modeling software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the development of junior staff.
- Strong coordination skills across architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines.

Physical Requirements
Will have normal office working conditions and be required to use a computer. Must be able to travel and maneuver around project sites to attend client and project meetings and to access sites for observation, investigation, and evaluation. Must be capable of working in outdoor environments when required. Must be able to use various technical equipment for communication and documentation purposes.
Visual acuity, hearing, and speech are necessary to perform responsibilities. Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. Reasonable accommodations may be made for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request accommodation.
