The Controls / Process Automation Engineer is responsible for maintaining, planning, and implementing processes and equipment leading to stable and capable production/business performance.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain Safety – Quality – Delivery – Cost – Environment – Moral initiatives.
- Supervise maintenance, production, and salary personnel in assigned areas of responsibility.
- The ability to work a flexible work schedule, daily overtime, multiple shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Enhance machine/equipment capabilities as they relate to Safety, Throughput, Uptime, Cost, and Quality.
- Develop Subject Matter Expertise in assigned areas of responsibility:
- Automotive Pretreatment process and equipment
- Automotive Full Body Electrode position Process
- Automated and Manual Automotive Sealer Application Automation
- Fanuc M20 iA Robots and associated vision system
- M710 ic Robots
- Fanuc R 30iA controllers
- Powder Paint Distribution and Control Systems
- Fanuc P250 ib Robots
- Fanuc RJ 30 iB Controllers
- Industrial Burners and Controls related to:
- Industrial Full Body Paint Cure Process
- Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers
- Champion Continuous Improvement Initiatives related to product quality, process optimization, and maintenance performance.
- Resolve issues associated with assembly automation, process quality, workstations, robotics and automated equipment; troubleshoot PLC controls, electrical components, servo-drives, motors, wiring and panels.
- Capture and document changes and update prints as needed; lead, coordinate and facilitate trouble shooting electrical and process issues.
- Lead problem resolution initiatives as they relate to equipment downtime, throughput improvement or any safety concerns. Establish, maintain, update and administer electrical and mechanical control plans; participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts to improve current processes and new projects; and perform any related tasks as needed.
- Lead Development and Optimization of Paint Process Equipment, converting ideas into tangible measurable manufacturing gains / improvements.
- Coordinate Professional Maintenance and breakdown activities.
- Standardized Maintenance Procedure (SMP) – creation and continuous improvement
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years manufacturing experience in automotive assembly and/or machining environment
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot electric, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Capable of reading and updating electrical and pneumatic schematics
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
- The ability to work a flexible work schedule, daily overtime, multiple shifts, weekends and holidays
- Proficient in the following PLC Architectures:
Allen Bradley LOGIX5, Guard Logix, Studio
5000 and Panelview Plus
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, and/or advance degree credit
- Self‑directed and motivated Effective problem‑solving skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in high volume Automotive Industry Paint Process
- Collaborate with cross functional groups to resolve problems and attain continuous improvement objectives.
