Tax Specialist

Pay Range

Base pay: $75,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Are you ready to take your tax expertise to the next level? Our client is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team and assist with crucial tax filing and compliance tasks. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely sales and use tax processes, as well as providing strategic insights for tax planning and audit management.

• Prepare and submit state and local sales and use tax returns, utilizing detailed financial data analysis.
• Maintain comprehensive work papers to support tax filings.
• Coordinate with accounting teams to process tax payments and operator billings.
• Oversee the reconciliation process for sales and use tax general ledger accounts.
• Manage tax registrations, renewals, and cancellations across various jurisdictions.
• Evaluate and enhance tax processes for efficiency and compliance, recommending best practices to management.
• Provide expert guidance on sales and use tax inquiries, ensuring adherence to current regulations.
• Maintain detailed tax exemption records, including resale certifications.
• Contribute to high-visibility tax projects with cross-functional collaboration.
• Stay updated on new tax laws and regulations to ensure portfolio compliance.
• Handle tax notices from authorities, developing action plans to address issues and mitigate risks.
• Defend against sales and use tax audits, preparing necessary documentation and schedules.

• Minimum of 2 years in an indirect tax-related role.
• Experience with tax compliance, audits, and research.
• Proficiency with ERP systems like Yardi and tax software such as One Source or Vertex.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Adobe.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• CMI designation or willingness to pursue it preferred.

Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required.
