Summary

Reporting to the Club Director (CD), the Program Director (PD) manages overall Club programming, ensuring the training and programming is disseminated to all program staff. The Program Director assumes responsibilities of the Club Director in her/his absence.

Responsibilities
  • Assist CD with club plans.
  • Develops and manages all programs assigned to ensure compliance with BGCT policies.
  • Assist CD with interviewing, hiring and evaluating unit program staff and volunteers.
  • Support and train unit program staff for assigned program area.
  • Provide daily, on-the-job training needs of program staff.
  • Ensure programs meet standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo and Boys & Girls Clubs of America and reflect core areas of program.
  • Coordinate program planning efforts of all departmental instructors.
  • Receive requisitions and procure supplies necessary for program implementation.
  • Monitor membership/registration processes to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual membership reports.
  • Ensure communication with members whose cards have expired.
  • Monitor staff attendance and maintain employee time sheets for submission to Administrative office.
  • Plan and coordinate building displays and bulletin boards; coordinate and run building special events.
  • Schedule and coordinate field trips and in-building games for teams and leagues.
  • Periodically drive the BGCT minibus when needed.
  • Count monies and verify with daily cash report.
  • Coordinate internal promotion of Club activities.
  • Coordinate member recognition systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Relieve departmental instructors for break periods as necessary.
  • Assume miscellaneous building maintenance duties including: minor repairs and other duties as directed by Club Director or Administration.
  • Consult with and aid the CD with additional duties including club discipline and guidance system, supervision of building, communications with parents, interviewing prospective employees, promotional duties in schools and community, and safety/emergency procedures.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations; daily meal reports with food delivery partner.
  • Develop and maintain public relations to increase visibility of programs; coordinate outside resources and experiential learning opportunities; conduct tours and host club/community events.
  • Work with staff on special events to conduct programs in all departments; exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan; assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. A minimum of five years’ work experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people and parents.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet usage.
  • Ability to interview, hire, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated capacity to be a team player.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control and management.
  • Ability to relate effectively with parents and community.
  • Ability to prepare weekly reports as required.
  • Must have a valid Ohio or Michigan driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Hours of operation:
    Monday – Friday 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; full-time, exempt position; may include evenings and weekends; fundraisers/events may require off-hours.
Relationships
  • Internal:
    Maintains close daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintains close contact with the Club Director.
  • Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise and counsel.
  • External:
    Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and publicize the Club.
