Perstorp Polyols, Inc. is an international chemical manufacturing facility in Toledo, OH looking for a Production Engineer I to join our team. As a key member of the plant engineering team, the Production Engineer will lead initiatives to support Perstorp’s ambition toward sustainable operations that produce consistent product quality to meet the needs of our customers across North and South America.
This position operates indoors as well as outdoors, spending up to 50% of the time in a manufacturing environment and is exposed to all weather elements, heat, cold, dirt, dust, vibrations, odors/unpleasant smells, loud noises, and chemicals.

- Support and optimize daily production operations, ensuring safe and efficient plant performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to drive process improvements and efficiency.
- Maintain and update documentation, including SOPs, logs, and work instructions.
- Participate or lead in improvement and capex projects, safety and quality audits, and compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and operations teams to achieve plant objectives.
- Contribute to training materials and support onboarding of new team members.
- Participate actively in EHSQ programs (safety training, incident reporting, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field).
- 0–5 years of relevant experience in a production or manufacturing environment (internships/co‑ops count).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive improvements.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with ERP/MES systems and lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn and grow within the organization.
- Ability to work and solve problems in an applied and “hands‑on” manner.
- Strong analytical skills and strong attention to detail and process oriented.
- Possess high level of integrity and objectivity by using data in making decisions.
- Self‑starter with excellent organizational skills handling multiple activities.
- Excellent technical writing skills to be able to produce high‑quality reports and procedures.
- Ability to respond to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects.
- Ability to work in a team environment toward a common goal.
