Position Summary

As a Material Handler you provide production staff with exceptional service and are very detail oriented and organized. This position will pick and process materials for production.

Essential Duties
  • Promotes and demonstrates Wurtec’s core values (dedicated, hardworking, ambitious, willing to accept responsibility, and integrity).
  • Practices safe work habits and complies with all quality, safety, health and environmental policies, procedures, programs, and regulations.
  • Process and pick materials from the warehouse and deliver to production personnel using ladders, pushcarts, forklift or manually operated pallet jack.
  • Properly count, identify, and organize material to ensure jobs can be processed in a timely manner.
  • Move completed subassemblies or jobs to other workstations, stock, transfer or directly to shipping.
  • Organize stock and merchandise within the warehouse by properly boxing and storing goods in their designated location.
  • Record inventory movement and transactions utilizing a computer and/or handheld device.
  • Communicate effectively with Purchasing, Production Schedulers, Shop Supervisors, etc. verbally and through email.
  • Ensure housekeeping duties are performed. Keep the warehouse stock locations and work areas organized and clean.
  • Full-time/in-person attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills
  • Aptitude for learning company ERP, Epicor.
  • Basic computer skills, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Basic math and counting skills.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified.

  • Detail oriented, flexible, and exhibit effective prioritization and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works effectively both independently and as a team.

Education & Experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a related position.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Work Environment

This role primarily operates in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled. This role may require exposure to inclement weather for short periods of time. The noise level is moderate and may be exposed to vibrations. This role requires constant lifting up to 25 lbs., frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifts up to 75 lbs. This role requires standing for long periods, kneeling, pushing, reaching, stooping/twisting, climbing, crouching, driving, grasping, pulling, reaching overhead, and squatting.

Near visual acuity and the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech is required. This role is not eligible to be considered for remote work.
