Critical Care Transport Nurse - Mercy Health Life Flight - St Vincent Medical Center

The role provides emergency nursing care for patients transported via the Mercy Health Life Flight Network and acts as a professional representative of Bon Secours Mercy Health to the community and to emergency medical services. The nurse will educate professional groups and promote Mercy Health - St.

Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center as regional referral centers. The role cares for patients of all ages (neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric). Primary placement is in a ground Mobile Intensive Care Unit with progression toward rotor wing flight cross training if openings are available.

• Provide emergency nursing care in a prompt and efficient manner to all patients transported via Mercy Health Life Flight Network.
• Assess, plan, organize, document and evaluate patient care in collaboration with another Critical Care Transport Care provider.
• Act as a professional representative and educator to professional groups and to emergency medical services.
• Promote Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center as regional referral centers.
• Provide care to patients of all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric).
• Position based on a ground Mobile Intensive Care Unit with potential progression to rotor wing flight cross training as openings occur.

• Required Minimum Education:
  
  2-year Associate’s Degree, Specialty/Major:
  Nursing
• Preferred Education:
  
  4-year bachelor’s degree

• Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Ohio
• CAMTS approved advanced certification (CFRN, or CTRN) required or obtained within 18 months of hire
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• TNCC and ITLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire
• FEMA 100, 200, & 700 within 6 months of hire
• Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification within 6 months of hire

• Michigan Registered Nurse license (required for Wauseon Flight Base)
• EMT or Paramedic Certification (required for Wauseon Flight Base)
• Michigan EMT or Paramedic Certification (required for Wauseon Flight Base)

• 3 years of professional nursing experience in critical care with at least 1 year of emergency care experience

• Orientation: 16-week minimum to acquire familiarity with department and unit policies and procedures
• Analytical abilities, strong nursing knowledge, problem solving and accurate documentation of patient condition
• Interpersonal and leadership skills to communicate with patients, physicians and hospital personnel; ability to participate in professional and community education and maintain good public relations
