Bowling Green Service Area Case Manager

General Purpose Of Job

The Bowling Green Service Area Case Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive social services to individuals and families in Wood County. This role provides intake, assessment, referrals, advocacy, and direct assistance in alignment with Salvation Army policies and available resources. The Case Manager serves as the primary point of contact for community partners, maintains relationships with local agencies, supports seasonal and ongoing programs, and ensures accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance with all funding and organizational guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality to The Salvation Army and its staff in all job-related matters.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, providing information, answering questions, and referring calls to other agencies for the Bowling Green service area.
  • Provide all forms of direct services to beneficiaries according to the service area including, but not limited to, intake/assessment, referrals, advocacy, and the provision of material assistance based upon guidelines, available resources, and policies and procedures of The Salvation Army.
  • Provide beneficiaries with information on and referrals to appropriate Salvation Army programs and other community resources.
  • Establish and provide weekly office hours in the Bowling Green district at collaborative agencies.
  • Establish and maintain a database of community resources to refer beneficiaries to other locations that may be helpful in addressing their needs.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports such as monthly statistics, grants, and government funding for the Wood County area.
  • Discuss special cases with the NWOAS Director of Social Services to resolve beneficiaries’ situations.
  • Participate in and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in the community to meet community needs and to ensure that services are not duplicated.
  • Refer beneficiaries seeking spiritual guidance to the Corps Officers.
  • Coordinate, support and participate in various social services programs, activities and services, including seasonal programming, such as youth camp, Tools for School, Thanksgiving Assistance, Hope for the Holidays and the toy program.
  • Keep abreast of community issues and services by visiting other community agencies.
  • Represent The Salvation Army at social service community functions for Wood County as deemed appropriate by the NWOAS Director of Social Services.
  • Assist in the daily maintenance of the social services office organization. These tasks may include general office management such as typing, filing, computer use, mailing preparation.
  • Assist with fulfilling duties of other NWOAS social services as needed.
  • Maintain confidential beneficiary files and accurate records with pertinent information including services provided and a plan of action.
  • Assist with all aspects of the food pantry as needed in accordance with established policies.
  • Work with Director of Advancement on fundraising activities and grant needs for the Wood County area.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Serve as the staff person in charge in the absence of the NWOAS Director of Social Services for Wood County.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, or related field required; or five years of relevant case management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in social services preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills; ability to engage in diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn internal databases.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Activities may include climbing or balancing, lifting up to 20 pounds, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, using hands, using sight/vision, walking, bending, and kneeling. Amount of time spent: up to 1/3, 1/3 to 2/3, or over 2/3 of the work period.
