MainDuties & Responsibilities
The Hand Finish Technician is responsible for performing precision deburring, blending, and finishing operations on aerospace components to ensure surfaces and edges meet strict engineering and quality standards. This role is vital in maintaining the high levels of detail and accuracy required in the aerospace industry, particularly for components used in flight-critical assemblies.
This is a 2nd shift position from 2:30pm - 11:00pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Inspect and analyze machined aerospace parts for burrs, sharp edges, and surface irregularities using magnification tools and blueprints/specifications.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, and other imperfections using hand tools, abrasive wheels, stones, scrapers, small power tools (e.g., Dremels, grinders), and polishing equipment.
- Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, engineering specifications, and process sheets to ensure conformance.
- Maintain tight tolerances and high cosmetic standards as per aerospace quality requirements (AS9100, NADCAP, etc.).
- Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions and surface finishes.
- Perform in-process and final deburring operations in collaboration with machinists, inspectors, and engineers.
- Document work completed and maintain traceability according to company and industry standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, ensuring tools and work spaces are maintained in good condition.
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and quality.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned
Education, Training, Skills and Experience Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a deburring, finishing, or precision assembly role in aerospace, medical device, or high-tech manufacturing preferred.
- Experience working with aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, Inconel, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with aerospace quality systems (AS9100) and inspection techniques.
- Ability to work under magnification for extended periods.
- Prior experience deburring, grinding and polishing precision machine parts
- Previous inspection experience
- Prior experience using micrometers and calipers
- Prior experience using hand and power tools, including small files and deburr knives
- Prior experience flow testing and pressure testing is a plus
- Requires dexterity and fine motor skills to handle tools, inspect parts, and perform precise deburring tasks
- Capable of standing or sitting for long periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- Capable of constant hand-eye coordination
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to noise, dust, and industrial machinery
- Must work cooperatively and professionally with co-workers, mostly in very close proximity
