Summary

The Supervisor is responsible for daily care and supervision of children while in care. This person(s) supervises all Residential Staff. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Assists in the management of team of Residential Staff including scheduling and employee management.
  • Supervises children in activities in order to observe or effect changes in their social behavior.
  • Completes shift documentation including but not limited to residential case notes, incident reports, and resident inventory.
  • Observes methods and techniques of clinical staff and participates in treatment of children through interaction, limit setting, and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Promotes professionalism with counseling staff ensuring dress code, appropriate staff-resident interactions, etc.
  • Escorts children to groups, interviews, meetings, mealtimes, recreation, education activities, medical appointments, and participates in supervision and instruction.
  • Maintains age-appropriate rules and enforces the behavior management system, including the proper conduct of children during work, recreation, and education activities.
  • Trains and models’ skill sets to Residential Staff.
  • Supervises the self‑administration of medication documents medication administration, as ordered.
  • Works to prevent unacceptable behavior in children or groups.
  • Maintains professional boundaries between self and residents to ensure appropriateness in the working relationship.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Communicates all appropriate information internally and externally to facilitate the treatment of the resident.
  • Attends training and meetings as required.
  • Shares/transmits the mission and vision of Kismet to staff and to clients and families served.
  • Teaches rules, manners, policies for interpersonal relationships, and personal care.
  • Review client files on a Periodic basis for the completeness and accuracy of residential documentation.
  • Review client files on a quarterly basis to access service plan implementation, progress towards desired outcomes, and future appropriateness of service plan.
  • Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, Kismet policy, and COA standards.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position directly supervises staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Kismet policies, State and Federal laws, and Minimum Standards. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance including coaching and future performance development; manages training needs through learning management system; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Maintain quality improvement goals and address at regularly scheduled staff meetings.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Must successfully pass all background screenings as required by the state. Must be 23 years of age or older. Behaviour or health status must not present a danger to children in care. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.

    EDUCATION, LICENSURE AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    High School diploma or GED and at least two years of direct‑care experience and at least one year of supervisory experience in a residential treatment setting working with children with emotional disorders.
