Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) – Tomball, TX
Maryland Oncology Hematology invites applicants for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) role at our Tomball, TX location.
OverviewTexas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support our Tomball clinic. This position may be classified as Level I, II, or Senior based on the candidate’s experience.
Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam and treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam and treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Phenlist in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows.
- Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
- May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
- Entry‑level position requiring 0–3 years of experience as a medical or nursing assistant.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- State regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a medical or nursing assistant.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a medical or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current BLS certification required.
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 40 lb. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Work EnvironmentMay involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
