The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in the Emergency Department, using established nursing models and advocating for patients, families and caregivers.

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management.
• Perform procedures and other functions ordered by the medical provider, documenting care in the patient medical record.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs proactively.
• Educate patients, families and caregivers about medical condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects and follow-up measures, translating complex terminology for understanding.
• Teach patients and families about non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise and disease prevention, preparing them for future self-management.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 90 days of start date.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months of start date.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 30 days of start date.
• 1 year RN experience in an acute care setting.
