Job Overview
The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of Streets and Drainage Service person. This position is responsible for performing a range of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, landscaping, and general upkeep of City facilities and systems. Focuses on ensuring streets, parks, and drainage projects are maintained efficiently and safely.
Education and ExperienceEducation and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities- Street and Ditch Maintenance:
Mow and trim streets and alleyways. Perform ditching tasks to ensure proper elevation. Install culverts and cover them with the appropriate material. - Landscaping:
Trim trees and edge sidewalks. Operate equipment for tree trimming and dispose of cut limbs through mulching or dumping. Ensure proper cutting of grass in ditches. - Waste Management:
Pick up loose trash in the city. Empty trash cans located on main streets. - Sign Management:
Repair and maintain city signs. Install new signs using post diggers and hand tools. - General Repairs:
Address discrepancies between driveways and streets (tie-ins). Conduct general labor work or repair as instructed. - Equipment Operation:
Operate various motor vehicles and maintenance equipment. Ensure all equipment is handled safely and efficiently. - Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of streets and drainage maintenance processes, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Ability to operate machinery, hand tools, and perform basic landscaping and maintenance tasks.
- Follow instructions, work as part of a team, adapt to changing tasks, and ensure safety standards are met consistently.
Backhoe, mini excavator, tractor, zero turn, Skid steer and dump truck.
Work Environment- The work is typically performed outdoors.
- May be required to work in high or dangerous places.
- Work may involve potentially life‑threatening exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, chemical/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma.
- May regularly be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma.
- May be required to work in confined spaces.
- May be exposed to biohazards or blood borne pathogens.
- Work may potentially involve risk of exposure to electric shock.
- Work requires the ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time.
- Work requires the ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement.
- Work requires the ability to grasp, pull, push, and reach.
- Work requires the ability to climb and balance.
- Work requires the ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend.
- Work requires the ability to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment.
- Work requires visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, three‑dimensional vision, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Must be able to lift more than 60 pounds.
- Work requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.

Salary- Hiring range - $36,109 - $37,918 ($17.36 - $18.23)
- Salary range - $36,109 - $54,184
- Salary is dependent on qualifications and certifications.
