DescriptionGENERAL
PURPOSE:
As a Patient Sitter you will provide personal care services and continuous observation of patients in need of constant supervision. In collaboration with the hospital staff, the patient sitter ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. Alongside your fellow team members, you will help elevate the patient experience.
SCHEDULE: 12 hour shifts
- Day Shift
- Night Shift
- Assist patients with daily activities (grooming, bathing, feeding)
- Assist the Nursing staff with duties including administering patient vitals.
- Assist nursing staff in creating, maintaining, and providing a safe environment.
- Immediately report all changes in the condition of the patient/client to appropriate supervisor and staff.
- Follow all required policies to avoid the transmission of illness by correctly wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves.
- Alert nursing staff immediately to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction
- Adhere to confidentiality and patients’ rights policy as outlined in the healthcare facility’s HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Work independently and as part of the team
- Attend required healthcare facility training and orientation programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- At least 19 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience in patient care within a hospital environment is preferred.
- Minimum of one to two years in a professional work environment required.
- Authorized to work for any employer within the United States
- Must meet the healthcare facility's pre-assignment and medical requirements.
- Must pass all onboarding screening processes.
- With professionalism, integrity, and compassion, you support your team and together represent BHC Healthcare throughout the facility.
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to adequately operate apps/technology on a tablet and learn new software that may have to be applied to the daily tasks for this role.
- Ability to effectively build relationships with patients, guests, and team members.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Role may include assignments in Emergency Room or Behavioral Health Units.
- Will complete Crisis Prevention and Intervention training/certification.
- Role requires continuous physical engagement including walking, standing, and ambulating of patients.
