This is a fixed term contract, however, for the right candidate, a permanent position would be discussed. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator, or someone with strong administrative skills and an interest in supporting students with additional needs, to play a key role in the smooth and effective running of a busy SEND department.
As the first point of contact for parents, carers and external professionals, you will provide a professional, friendly and responsive service, managing enquiries received by telephone and email. You will help ensure that communication is handled efficiently and that accurate, up-to-date information is maintained to support the needs of students and staff. Working closely with the Director of SEND, you will provide essential administrative support to the department, with responsibilities potentially developing over time to meet the needs of this dynamic team.
Keyresponsibilities may include:
- Maintaining accurate student records, databases and spreadsheets, ensuring information is up to date and handled confidentially.
- Managing and monitoring the SEND shared inbox, responding to enquiries and directing communications to the appropriate colleagues.
- Recording student diagnoses, educational needs, interventions and support arrangements.
- Organising SEND support meetings, coordinating appointments and maintaining booking systems.
- Supporting referrals to external agencies by gathering and collating relevant evidence, coordinating documentation and overseeing the process from start to finish.
- Updating and maintaining the SEND Register to ensure records are accurate and current.
- Administering literacy, dyslexia and dyscalculia screening assessments.
- Preparing and distributing correspondence, forms and supporting documentation.
- Producing and circulating weekly SEND updates and communications for staff.
- Providing additional administrative support to the Director of SEND and the wider team as required.
This role would suit someone who is highly organised, proactive and approachable, with excellent communication skills and a strong eye for detail. The ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with a range of colleagues, families and external professionals will be essential.
