Management Accountant

Client Details

We are exclusively partnering with our West Kent based client, a niche SME, in hiring a part time Management Accountant to take ownership of the finance function, reporting into the fractional Finance Director. This is a hands‑on role within a fast‑paced environment, where you will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting operational teams, and driving continuous improvements across processes.

My client can be flexible with hours and days of work.

• 30 hours over 3 / 4 / 5 days
• 24 hours over 3 days etc

Management Accountant duties include;

• Production of monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
• Deliver timely month-end reporting (within 4 working days) with re‑forecasting across the financial year
• Responsibility for cashflow forecasting, monitoring, and analysis
• Ownership of ledger reconciliations across nominal, sales, purchase, payroll, and balance sheet
• Oversight of sales invoicing, WIP, and project profitability reporting
• Review and approval of supplier invoices and payment runs
• Credit control and building relationships with key clients
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns and statutory filings
• Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with leadership
• Liaison with external auditors and accountants for year-end processes
• Identify and implement process improvements across finance operations

The successful Management Accountant should have/ be:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or Qualified by Experience
• Proven experience in a Management Accountant role, ideally within an SME environment
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, financial reporting, and reconciliations
• Experience in cashflow management, forecasting, and budgeting
• Excellent Excel skills and strong attention to detail
• Experience working within a project-based or time‑sheet‑driven organisation is highly desirable
• Exposure to systems such as Xero, Proteus, or Bright Pay is advantageous but not essential
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with non-finance stakeholders
• Hands‑on and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem solving
