School Finance Assistant– Tonbridge Contract Type
Full-Time, Temporary, All Year Round (Including School Holidays)
Contract DurationASAP – 31st October 2026
Working Hours- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
- Recent experience as a Finance Assistant within a school or college environment
- Experience using the PF Financial System
- Enhanced DBS certificate (preferably registered with the DBS Update Service)
- Available to start as soon as possible
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the school’s finance team. You will help ensure efficient and accurate financial operations that support teaching, learning, and positive student outcomes.
The role focuses on:
- Maintaining robust financial processes
- Supporting budgeting and financial reporting
- Ensuring compliance and operational efficiency
- Promoting a professional and effective administrative environment
- Raise and manage purchase orders
- Process supplier invoices and obtain the necessary approvals
- Manage credit card purchases in accordance with school procedures
- Raise sales invoices
- Monitor and chase outstanding payments and aged debt
- Count and record cash receipts accurately
- Assist with banking activities
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Process weekly payment runs
- Set up new suppliers and carry out required verification checks
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Produce monthly budget reports
- Support financial planning and decision-making processes
- Manage the Parent Pay system
- Administer Free School Meal vouchers
- Support stationery ordering and stock control processes
- Monitor finance inboxes and respond to queries promptly
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school
- Provide support and cover during staff absences
- Have excellent attention to detail and a "right first time" approach
- Be highly organised and efficient
- Be confident using finance systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be proactive and able to identify opportunities to improve processes
