We are looking for a friendly, organised and reliable Receptionist to join our busy team. You will be the first point of contact for women, families and visitors, providing a warm welcome and ensuring a smooth patient journey through our antenatal clinic within Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, Llwynypia, Rhondda. The post holder will work as part of the team to ensure that a high quality service is delivered efficiently and effectively.
At all times the post holder will be expected to use discretion, sensitivity and deal with information in a confidential and professional manner.

To provide professional, efficient, and accurate administrative support to antenatal clinic. The primary function of this role will involve reception support. The role also includes general administrative tasks including booking hospital appointments and scans, using electronic patient systems, and dealing with patient notes. You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to our patients whilst ensuring queries are dealt with in a professional manner supporting the work of the antenatal clinic department in the provision of an efficient and effective service.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
Qualificationsand/or Knowledge
- Knowledge of administrative systems
- Evidence of continuous ongoing learning
- NVQ Level 2.
- Previous experience of working within the hospitality sector
- Experience of working with members of the public.
- Previous experience in a clerical, administration, reception role
- Previous experience of working within the NHS.
- Knowledge of the Patient Administration System used in the Health Board
- Effective communication skills.
- Good organisational computer and keyboard skills.
- Welsh Language Speaking/Listening Skills (Level 3 and above/B2)
- Work independently without need for supervision.
- Ability to prioritise and use own initiative.
- Confident, conscientious, and enthusiastic.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Ability to exert moderate physical activity when moving and handling equipment e.g. case note trolleys or patients wheelchairs.
- If required, travel to other UHB sites in a timely manner to undertake duties of the role.
