Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer & CAD Power User to join our engineering team. In this dual-focus role, you will spend approximately 70% of your time on core mechanical design engineering and 30% serving as our internal CAD and PLM/PDM technical champion.

The ideal candidate is not just a skilled product design engineer, but a Solid Works expert who thrives on troubleshooting complex modeling challenges, optimizing large assemblies, and ensuring seamless data synchronization with our PDM Vault. You will be the go‑to technical resource for the engineering team, resolving daily operational bottlenecks and maintaining data integrity.

System Integration & Migration Support You will maintain and troubleshoot the day‑to‑day data interface between our current PDM and Manufacturing ERP systems to ensure seamless BOM and metadata synchronization. Additionally, you will help guide our team through an upcoming transition to a new PDM/ERP ecosystem. Rather than building a system from scratch, you will serve as the local technical lead to adapt, test, and implement the standardized workflows and infrastructure already established by our parent company.

Description

Skytrac Services, Inc. delivers turnkey installations of fixed grip aerial ropeways and automated people moving systems, utilizing our Engineering team throughout the entire project lifecycle. Ropeway manufacturing is a specialized industry, providing engineers with diverse multidisciplinary opportunities that extend beyond traditional mechanical engineering, requiring robust fundamental engineering principles and advanced problem‑solving skills.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Mechanical and Civil Engineering teams to achieve project objectives. You will design and develop systems featuring complex welded structures, precision‑machined and custom sheet metal parts, as well as commercial purchased components.

This position offers many unique learning opportunities to see your designs move directly from the computer screen to our on‑site fabrication shop, and to installation sites in various locations. You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with skilled fabricators and on‑site construction experts, gaining valuable hands‑on exposure to all aspects of aerial ropeway systems.

This position is located at the corporate offices of Skytrac based in Tooele, UT. Work schedule is office‑based initially, with opportunities for transitioning to hybrid remote. Some travel to jobsites throughout the United States and Canada may be required, primarily between May and October, but is expected to be 10% or less of work time during those months.
