Safety Coordinator
Location:
Tooele, UT
We are seeking a Safety Coordinator responsible for leading and supporting all safety activities within the facility. This role ensures effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of site safety and health policies and procedures.
This is a Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM position, with some flexibility based on business needs. Occasional Saturday work may be required during plant emergencies. No travel is required.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver safety training for all employees, including office and outside sales personnel.
- Conduct timely accident and incident investigations; provide prompt reporting to Plant Management and the Site EHS Manager.
- Ensure corrective actions identified in safety committee meetings are completed and communicated within established timelines.
- Conduct annual reviews of safety manuals and update as needed.
- Maintain Haz Com compliance and current SDS documentation.
- Coordinate Industrial Hygiene surveys (air, noise, ergonomics, etc.) as required.
- Ensure SOPs, JSAs, and LOTO procedures are in place for all new processes, materials, and equipment before use.
- Review safety documents such as safety committee minutes, inspection reports, forklift inspections, accident reports, and near‑miss reports.
- Maintain records of all employee training, hazard corrections, and workplace inspections; submit required documentation to corporate for recordkeeping.
- Perform weekly, monthly, and annual safety inspections.
- Manage hazardous material checks and hazardous area inspections.
- Oversee annual safety program updates, including the Safety Manual, IIPP, Emergency Procedures Manual, and Emergency Contingency Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, from shop floor personnel to Plant Managers.
- Confidence and initiative in completing assignments independently.
- Associate Degree (two‑year college or technical school).
- 1–2 years of experience in a safety‑related position.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Work performed in a manufacturing plant environment, which may be dusty, dirty, and subject to varying temperatures.
- Standard schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. - Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required.
- Eye and hearing protection required at all times on the production floor.
- Safety‑toe footwear (steel or composite) required on the production floor.
- Additional PPE as required by department and management.
