Carpentry, Building Maintenance
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Carpenter and Handyman who wants more than a string of random jobs.
Tru Blue Home Service Ally is building a team of skilled professionals who want steady work, clear expectations, support when they need it, and an opportunity to grow into something bigger.
We provide handyman services, home repairs, remodeling, maintenance, and senior home safety modifications for homeowners throughout our local community.
Our technicians are called Tru Pros because the job goes beyond being good with tools.
A Tru Pro is someone a homeowner can trust inside their home.
What Makes This Position Different
Many skilled tradespeople have spent years dealing with inconsistent work, constantly chasing the next project, changing schedules, or working for companies where there is nowhere to go.
We are trying to build something different.
Tru Blue combines a locally owned business and close knit team with the systems, training, and support of a national organization.
You will have an organized schedule, clearly defined jobs, established procedures, support from the office, and a defined path for advancement as the company grows.
We are looking for someone who wants to become an important part of that growth.
What You Will Be Doing
This is a hands on position working on a wide variety of residential repair, maintenance, remodeling, and home improvement projects.
Depending on the project, your work may include carpentry, drywall repair and installation, doors and trim, painting, decks and railings, cabinetry, home repairs, fixture installation, accessibility improvements, grab bars, senior home safety modifications, and general handyman work.
You will be expected to manage your assigned jobs from start to finish, understand the scope of work, prepare the jobsite, perform quality workmanship, keep the work area clean and safe, document your work, and communicate professionally with the homeowner.
You will also be expected to notice legitimate maintenance or safety concerns while you are in the home and bring them to the customer's attention.
We are not looking for high pressure salespeople.
Our approach is to educate the homeowner, explain what you see, explain why it matters, offer an appropriate solution, and allow the customer to make the decision.
Trust comes before the sale.
The Person We Are Looking For
You should already be comfortable completing a broad range of home repairs and improvement projects without someone standing over your shoulder.
We value strong trade skills, but technical ability alone is not enough.
We are looking for someone who shows up when they say they will, communicates clearly, takes pride in the finished product, keeps a clean jobsite, treats customers and their homes with respect, and takes responsibility when something needs attention.
You should be comfortable working directly with homeowners, including seniors and families who may need a little more patience, communication, or explanation.
The right person is dependable, professional, trustworthy, teachable, and willing to follow established systems.
You should also be comfortable using a phone or tablet to review your schedule, job information, photos, notes, and other job documentation.
What Success Looks Like
Success here means more than getting the repair done.
It means arriving prepared and on time.
It means completing the work correctly and professionally.
It means communicating with the customer throughout the project.
It means noticing problems before they become bigger problems.
It means cleaning up when the work is finished and leaving the customer's home in excellent condition.
It means doing what you said you were going to do.
Most importantly, it means leaving the homeowner feeling confident that they have someone they can trust when they need help with their home again.
Training and Support
You are not expected to figure everything out on your own.
Tru Blue provides structured onboarding, on the job training, specialty tools when needed, established operating procedures, and ongoing coaching.
Our technicians use House Call Pro to manage scheduling, job information, photos, notes, and the daily workflow so you know where you need to be and what is expected.
There is a structured 30, 60, and 90 day development process designed to help new Tru Pros become comfortable with our systems, customer service standards, and job expectations.
Opportunity to Grow
We are not hiring someone simply to fill today's schedule.
