Position
Purpose:
Organizes and orders all materials requested by library media specialists for school media center collections and performs necessary, in district, bookkeeping and accounting regarding Media Services accounts.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Experience in bookkeeping/accounting
- Skilled in the operation of personal computers and standard office software, to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work positively with colleagues, district staff, and business representatives
- Lifting up to 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post high school education in bookkeeping/accounting
- Knowledge of TERMS accounting system
- Knowledge of library forms and procedures
- Knowledge of District procedures and policies
Knowledge/Ability/
Skills:
- Working knowledge of records management and bookkeeping/accounting principles
- Skilled in interpersonal communication
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment that may include frequent interruptions
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to use standard Office software
- Ability to be flexible about duty assignments
Physical/Emotional Requirements: (The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.)
Speaking, hearing, manual dexterity (coordination of eye/hand for such activities as typing, calculating, work processing and the like), bending/stooping, sitting, walking, reaching/pushing/pulling, lifting 20 pounds, carrying, standing. Employee must be able to handle multiple, unrelated demands on time and attention.
Position Responsibilities:
- Works under limited supervision.
- Organizes order requests to most cost effectively spend budget allocations for library media center collection development
- Orders and receives materials for the Media Services department and the individual school library media centers
- Performs bookkeeping/accounting tasks for the Media Services department, including expenditures for each library media center
- Manages the departmental orders/records in TERMS
- Resolves accounting issues related to Media Services orders and accounts.
- Sets up and maintains budget worksheets in Excel
- Assists with departmental reports, requests, communication and special projects
- Performs clerical duties including filing and data entry using Microsoft Excel and Access.
12 month position/8 hour day; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
