The City of Topeka’s Police Department is seeking an organized individual to serve as its Quartermaster. This is a nonsworn position that is responsible for the management, control, accountability, and distribution of uniforms and equipment for sworn and nonsworn employees within the department. The Quartermaster is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records and operating within the uniform budget and will assist with other administrative tasks within the Training Unit as required.
Whatyou'll do:
- Manage relationships with vendors, including handling contracts and resolving any issues.
- Process employee uniform and equipment requests and maintain inventory.
- Issue and maintain locker assignments.
- Assist with file compliance requests.
- Proficiency in the operation of standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Associate's degree from an accredited community college, college or university with a minimum of two years of clerical and/or office management experience OR
- Without an associate’s degree, a high school diploma or its equivalent is required with four or more years of clerical and/or office management experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license and must be insurable within the standards set by the City of Topeka’s insurance carrier. Please review the insurability guidelines here.
- Law enforcement experience involving contracts, equipment, uniforms, and related priorities is preferred but not required.
- Must meet qualifications to work as a police agency employee, including passing an extensive background check.
Minimum Entry Rate of Pay: $23.76 - $28.51 per hour, depending on qualifications
