DIGITAL PRODUCERKSNT 27 News and FOX 43 in Topeka are looking for our next digital producer to help drive the future of our newsroom. 27 News is an award-winning newsroom in an active state capital market with strong politics, Division I sports and a vibrant arts and culture scene. We are the NBC, FOX, ABC and CW affiliates in the region, offering exceptional storytelling opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Develop and execute winning digital strategies across web, app and social
* Maintain expert-level understanding of Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram and emerging platforms
* Review, edit and publish clean, accurate copy that adheres to editorial style guidelines
* Use digital platforms to reinforce brand identity and drive audiences to broadcast and streaming
* Determine story emphasis, length and format based on audience needs and analytics
* Research background information to ensure accuracy and strong context
* Gather information through research, calls, interviews and event coverage
* Pitch on-brand, local and trending digital stories during meetings
* Check reference materials and public records to gather relevant facts
* Shoot and edit occasional video for digital and on-air use
* Produce content for all platforms, meeting standards for accuracy, fairness and quality
* Plan, schedule and execute digital campaigns for shows, specials and major events
* Write quick-turn stories for the website, app and other platforms
* Find new, innovative ways to use digital tools to engage viewers
* Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills
* Degree in journalism or related field; newspaper or digital news experience preferred
* Working knowledge of AP style, Adobe Photoshop and basic HTML; CSS and additional digital tools are a plus
* Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
* Strong attention to detail and openness to feedback
