Position Overview

The Academic Standing and Training/Events Coordinator serves a key assessment role related to student standing in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and provides support for student success through analysis of policy and academic requirement information and student support collaborations with campus partners. The position conducts assessment of all undergraduate students to determine academic standing; determines eligibility for the College Dean’s Honor Roll;

develops reports and data to aid in student success; coordinates campus partner training services; plans and executes outreach events; supports orientation headquarters; and maintains website and communications.

Job Description 40% - Determining Academic Standing and Honor Roll Eligibility for the College
  • Conducts a detailed review of all college undergraduate students' academic standing and determines correct status, including dismissal, probation, notice, or good standing (≈20,000 students per year).
  • Communicates to all students to notify them of their current academic standing and conditions of standing required to remain a student in the College.
  • Provides regular standing reports to assistant dean, advisors and other campus partners regarding students’ standing.
  • Conducts monthly review to identify need for additional standing changes due to grade changes and other actions that impact student standing.
  • Uploads academic standing at the end of each semester and after the 20th day to capture readmitted students or students changing schools into the College.
  • Communicates with the Office of the University Registrar to update standing throughout the year and drop schedules for dismissed students.
  • Reviews, determines eligibility, and communicates decision for readmission/admission after dismissal applications, including students dismissed from professional schools, or otherwise not in good academic standing. This also includes review of applications to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for current students changing their area of study from another school to determine eligibility for admission into the College.
  • Acts on student petitions related to exceptions to readmission and reinstatement policy.
  • Trains new staff who work with college students on academic standing policies and procedures.
  • Conducts college academic standing workshops and informational sessions as needed.
  • Places and removes college student enrollment holds related to academic standing.
Determining eligibility for College Dean’s Honor Roll
  • Conducts a detailed review of all college undergraduate students' academic records at the end of each fall and spring semester and determines eligibility for inclusion in that term’s Dean’s Honor Roll (≈20,000 students per year).
  • Communicates award to students who have earned Honor Roll each semester.
  • Uploads award at the end of each semester to update student’s record.
20% - Training/Events Coordinator Training
  • Works closely with CUAS colleagues and assistant dean to coordinate the creation and maintenance of all training related materials for CUAS trainings for new CUAS staff, college faculty leaders, new college administrative staff, and academic advisors.
  • Conducts semesterly outreach to determine training needs of campus partner units.
  • Schedules training sessions and coordinates with CUAS staff to secure presenters and manage content.
  • Conducts post‑training assessment to identify expansions/improvements for future trainings.
Event Planning and Coordination
  • Facilitates the development and execution of student engagement events to reach the substantial student population in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, increasing overall student experience and fostering a greater sense of belonging.
  • Collaborates with campus and local partners to host events on behalf of the Office of College Undergraduate Academic Services, ensuring all event submissions meet deadlines for inclusion in the University calendar.
