Position OverviewThe People Soft Senior Programmer at KU Information Technology will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining People Soft applications and systems to support the university’s administrative and academic operations. This position has latitude for independent decisions while collaborating in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with People Soft technologies, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Job Description Application Development & Support (40%)- Design, develop, and customize People Soft applications, including modules for Human Resources, Finance, Student Administration, and others as required.
- Develop and maintain integrations between People Soft and other university systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for People Soft applications, including performance tuning and optimization.
- Participate in project planning and management activities, including defining project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and ensuring successful project execution.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and system documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical specifications and solutions.
- Participate in IT service management including incident and problem resolution.
- Perform regular system maintenance, including applying patches, upgrades, and fixes to ensure the stability and security of People Soft systems.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements through regular audits and reviews of system configurations and operations.
- Manage and maintain backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures or data loss.
- Implement and monitor system alerts and performance metrics to proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Implement security protocols and monitor system vulnerabilities to protect against potential threats and unauthorized access.
Other Duties (5%): assigned as required.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma/GED and seven years of relevant People Soft experience OR an Associate’s degree and five years of relevant People Soft experience OR a Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant People Soft experience.
- Three years demonstrated proficiency in People Tools, including Application Designer, People Code, Application Engine, Component Interface, Integration Broker, and web services as demonstrated in application materials.
- Three years of relevant People Soft experience using SQL, PL/SQL, SQR, XML, Java, and other programming languages relevant to People Soft development using People Tools 8.60 or higher.
- Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
- Relevant People Soft certifications.
- Experience with People Soft upgrades, applying updates, patches, and managing version control.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into technical solutions.
- Experience in higher education or large‑scale enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations, particularly those relevant to higher education institutions.
