The Role Peraton is seeking an Assembly Screening Technician Lead to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals. The Assembly Screening Technician works at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Topeka, KS. The CRF is a depot repair facility for USPS mail processing, delivery, and bulk mail systems repairable parts. Examples: repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies to component level.
The CRF provides depot level maintenance for essential automation, mechanization, retail and bulk mail processing systems used in all mail processing and retail installations. Our Assembly Screening Technician Lead serves as foreman responsible for directing the work of others while providing technical guidance to lower level technicians, assisting the supervisor as necessary, preparing or assisting in the preparation of reports as needed, and performing of all other duties as assigned.
Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems in various types of equipment. Specific tasks include:
* Assist lower-level technicians with the performance of a variety of non-complex assembly and disassembly tasks
* Performs functional tests for quality of product according to specifications
* Will operate and test equipment to determine whether it is working properly per diagram, written or verbal instruction and will identify issue (where applicable) by selecting, verifying and identifying needed material
* Performs non-complex modifications or repair of electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical assemblies
* Disassembles, assembles and/or installs equipment or parts requiring non-complex wiring or connecting
* Screening may include identifying need for repair of electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical assemblies
* Ability needed to: rotate through tasks per instruction, be detail and safety oriented, meet schedules and move items to staged areas
* Assembles and labels component kits from drawings or parts list
* Checks items for completeness and functionality, both mechanical and electronic
* Analyzes results and makes repairs or adjustments to processes as required
* May assemble prototype items
* Extensive interactions with internal and external customers
* Performs other related tasks, as requiredCRF
2025 Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
* High school diploma/GED with with two years formal technical training and a combined total of 4 years experience or six years related experience in lieu of formal technical training with demonstrated ability to perform.
* U.S.Citzenship
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Must have resided in the U.S. past five years with no more than six months outside travel of the U.S. during this time.
* Ability to utilize hand, power and pneumatic tools to assemble/disassemble structural or mechanical components
* Apply Safety Awareness to tasks
* Ability to read and interpret exploded view assembly drawings
* Ability to solve problems dealing with incorrect procedures
* Demonstrate appropriate People Leadership Characteristics
* Understanding of general test equipment and their uses
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Proficiency using windows based applications and software (Microsoft Office) Basic typing skills are necessary
* Communicate effectively both oral and written
* Familiarity with basic computer operation
Preferred Qualifications:
* Familiarity with quality control processes
Physical Requirements:
* Heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
