Stormont Vail Health is hiring a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse for the 5 North Stroke/Neuropsych unit. This is a 12‑hour night shift, 12 hours per week, and is full time.

Medical/Surgical nursing encompasses the care of patients across the lifespan for acute and chronic illnesses across several specialties, including stroke. Nurses perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Education Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred
- Valid nursing license in Kansas (or KSBN multistate license)
- Registered Nurse – KSBN license (or equivalent) – Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- RQI, CPR, or ACLS certifications – May be required depending on department
- Awareness and sensitivity to patient rights and safety issues.
- Knowledge of legal issues and risk management.
- Competence in psychomotor skills related to nursing care.
- Effective verbal, non‑verbal, and written communication.
- Mathematical calculation for medication administration.
- Collect and analyze patient data to identify problems and plan individualized care.
- Develop and implement collaborative care plans.
- Evaluate progress toward goal attainment.
- Deliver nursing care guided by the Theory of Human Caring.
- Promote a respectful, ethical environment and advocate for patients.
- Practice diversity, equity, and inclusion in daily work.
- Serve as a mentor for new nurses.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Lead nursing practice improvements and evidence‑based care.
- Compliance with all Stormont Vail Health policies, standards, mandatory training, and requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Balancing, carrying, climbing ladders, stairs, crawling, crouching, knee‑lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching – occasional or frequent as noted.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Standing, sitting, walking – occasional to frequent.
- Exposure to needle stick, noise, needle stick, infectious diseases, chemical, electrical hazards.
- Risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, hazardous drugs, and other hazards.
