Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist; CRNA -St. Francis Campus

Position Title

Position Summary / Career Interest: Responsible for administering and monitoring anesthesia to patients during surgical and/or obstetrical procedures.

• Assesses patients before anesthesia including analyzing medical history and planning anesthesia delivery.
• Administers various types of anesthesia including inhalational, intravenous, regional anesthetics based on anesthetic plan. Performs any necessary invasive procedures including insertion of catheters.
• Observes and records all patient functions being continuously monitored and evaluates need for ancillary drugs to maintain normal functioning.
• Consults with staff anesthesiologist as necessary regarding patient condition.
• Documents for patient record all relevant assessment, care, and monitoring data.
• Ensures availability of required supplies and equipment before anesthetic procedure.
• Educates patients, families and staff on anesthesia aspects related to conditions and diseases. Reassures patient before procedure. Accompanies to recovery area to ensure condition satisfactory.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

• High School Graduate
• Bachelor Degree Nursing
• Completion of nursing school, graduate of anesthesia school.
• 2 or more years of nursing experience.

• 1 or more years Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - State Board of Nursing
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Courses must be American Heart Association, American Red Cross or approved by the American Heart Association. They must also contain a skills check off as part of the course).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Courses must be American Heart Association, American Red Cross or approved by the American Heart Association. They must also contain a skills check off as part of the course).
• Copy of the current license for the State of Kansas
