Provides professional assessment of patients' health concerns over the telephone to complement Grace Med Health Clinic’s mission of delivering primary health care services.
- Utilizes communication skills, knowledge of disease processes, and normal growth and development for all age groups to ascertain an accurate understanding of patients’ symptoms.
- Determines severity of the patient’s complaint; directs caller to appropriate emergency services if necessary; recommends medical follow-up per triage protocols and provides health information.
- Coordinates referrals with physicians, specialists, and ancillary services when needed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assists in development and documentation of protocols related to job functions.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current State of Kansas licensure as an RN.
- Current CPR certification (obtained within 30 days of employment).
- Maintain appropriate licensure and certification, including meeting CME requirements.
- Public health and/or critical care experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment (computers, copiers, etc.).
- Works independently, organizes, monitors, and adjusts work to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Identifies and solves problems.
- Documents meticulously and works independently.
- Provides innovative input into office and process development.
- Embraces and personifies the mission and values of Grace Med with socio-economic and cultural sensitivity.
- Displays good verbal and written communication skills; follows oral instructions.
- Handles stressful situations.
Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (schedule may vary).
Working ConditionsMedical office environment; ability to sit/stand for long periods; bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs.; interaction with physicians, patients, office personnel; potential exposure to blood/body fluids and hazardous substances; requires visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity for computer use.
