Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring KS or compact RN license and remote telemetry monitoring experience.

• Valid KS or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Patient ratio experience of 1:5-6 required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs preferred
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, HFNC, and ABG interpretation preferred
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care preferred
• Experience managing CVA patients preferred
• Experience administering Heparin and Insulin preferred
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac preferred
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
• Remote telemetry cardiac monitoring experience preferred

• General Medical unit caring for a variety of illnesses and conditions
• Care for stable remote telemetry monitored patients who are not on cardiac drips
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Floating required to like units within scope as needed
• Weekend work required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this unit
• Must reside outside a 50 mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from employment for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Brief onsite orientation provided for floating assignments
