All work to be completed in the field. Weather conditions may be extreme.

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Report any safety violations or faulty conditions to the supervisor.

Personal protective equipment is required. This includes safety glasses, safety steel‑toed boots, hard hats, and safety vests. Safety goggles and neoprene gloves may be required when working with vehicle fluids (e.g., antifreeze, oil, cleaners). Required to be trained in Road Worker Safety once a year.

Eligible for a $1,000 sign‑on bonus after 60 days of employment.

• Operate and maintain the detector car and its equipment.
• Perform vehicle inspections, equipment set‑up, and record data.
• Provide maintenance of vehicle and carriage, including crawling under the vehicle with as little as eighteen inches clearance.
• Climb steps and ladders to enter/exit vehicle and conduct ground examinations.
• Conduct visual and auditory communication with crew and system operators.
• Maintain vehicle components, clean interior and exterior, and perform routine maintenance of generator and engine.
• Support other field maintenance personnel and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and preventative maintenance schedule.
• Assist and interact with railroad personnel and enter required data into reporting systems.

• Heavy travel: 3–4 months at a time within eastern or western regions.
• Operate in extreme weather and uneven surfaces.
• Maintain awkward postures under vehicles and climb up to 300 steps per day.
• Lift and carry up to 85 lbs; occasionally 100 lbs.
• Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl under an 18‑inch clearance.

• Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Basic mechanical tasks ability (change tire, replace battery, etc.).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 85 lbs and occasionally assist in lifting objects over 100 lbs.
• Ability to squat, kneel and crawl under an 18‑inch clearance.

• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
