The Role

Del Condominium Rentals Inc. is hiring a detail-oriented and proactive Property Accountant to support accurate client account management and financial data integrity with minimal supervision. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys problem-solving.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Execute and support daily accounting operations, including month-end and year-end closings, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Take ownership of GL reconciliations and ensure any discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Track and accurately apply payments from various sources (e.g., cheques, e-transfers, credit cards).
  • Prepare and verify deposit slips, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Monitor and reconcile pre-payments, ensuring accurate application to tenant and owner accounts.
  • Maintain and reconcile suite count reports for insurance purposes.
  • Post and validate all accounts payable and receivable entries with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Process refunds and vendor payments, ensuring compliance with internal controls and timelines.
  • Review and update rent increases, interest calculations, and last month’s rent applications.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual owner and tenant statements and rent receipts.
  • Liaise with CRA to manage non-resident accounts, including reconciliation and closure.
  • Prepare and reconcile non-resident tax payments and annual tax slips.
  • Review and validate vendor work orders and reconcile outstanding balances.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer banking information in the ERP system.
  • Identify and post bad debt write-offs, ensuring ledgers reflect true financial positions.
  • Process and adjust utility, legal, and tax-related payments on behalf of clients.
  • Maintain a well-organized and accessible accounting filing system.
  • Resolve invoice, billing, and payment disputes with professionalism and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and recommend improvements where needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the Customer Experience team, providing timely and accurate support, ensuring accounting-related issues are resolved efficiently to maintain a high standard of client satisfaction.
  • Proactively recommend and document accounting policies and process enhancements.
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for internal teams, demonstrating a proactive approach to cross-departmental communication and problem-solving.
  • Take the initiative on special projects and support senior accounting staff as needed.
Who You Are
  • Minimum 2 years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in property management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership over assigned responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and solving problems.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive, can-do attitude.

The base salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000 per year, based on skills and experience.
