About the Role
Our Client is seeking a highly skilled Controller to play a key leadership role in driving financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and enhancing end-to-end accounting processes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CPA who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to delivering high-quality financial reporting.
What You’ll Do
Drive Financial Operations & Accuracy
Oversee end-to-end accounting processes to ensure timely, accurate financial information.
Lead the month‑end close, prepare journal entries, develop support schedules, and review work completed by accounting staff.
Maintain precision and consistency across all accounting activities.
Champion strong internal controls across accounting practices.
Manage reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and ensure outstanding items are resolved promptly.
Maintain and oversee the fixed asset sub‑ledger with accuracy.
Advance Financial Reporting Excellence
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, cash flow reports, investment entries, and supporting documentation.
Ensure alignment with budget, liquidity, and compliance requirements.
Provide detailed analysis to support the Director of Finance in strategic decision making.
Lead Audit & Regulatory Activities
Coordinate and support annual and interim audits through documentation, reconciliations, and timely responses.
Prepare government filings, including HST returns.
Oversee accounting processes related to the Client’s charitable foundation.
Champion Process & Policy Improvements
Identify opportunities to enhance accounting policies, reporting processes, and system efficiencies.
Collaborate across Finance and with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen financial governance and operational excellence.
Who You Are
A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in good standing with CPA Ontario
10 years of progressive accounting experience with strong technical accounting skills.
Demonstrated confidence in mentoring and guiding accounting staff.
Knowledge of ASPE ; familiarity with ASNPO
Highly proficient in Excel and Office 365 ; comfortable working with financial systems and large data sets.
Detail‑oriented, analytical, and committed to continuous improvement.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid model: 3 days per week in office , 2 days remote.
