Project Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Project Accountant to join a growing finance team within a dynamic, project‑based professional services environment. This role will be responsible for supporting the financial administration of a large portfolio of active projects, including project setup, billing, revenue tracking, financial reporting, and project analysis.

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000

• Manage the day‑to‑day accounting and financial administration of assigned projects.
• Prepare and review client invoices in accordance with contractual terms, company procedures, and project requirements.
• Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, costs, revenue recognition, and profitability.
• Track and maintain project setups within the organization’s ERP/project management system.
• Review project‑related transactions to ensure accurate coding and financial reporting.
• Support accounts receivable activities, including monitoring aging reports and assisting with collections as required.
• Prepare project financial reports and analyses for management and project leaders.
• Assist with month‑end close activities, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate closely with project managers and operational teams to support project delivery and financial objectives.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and contractual obligations.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and financial analysis as required.

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of project accounting experience.
• Experience in engineering consulting, construction, architecture, professional services, or similar industries is considered an asset.
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, or similar ERP/project accounting systems is an asset.
• Pursuit of a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.
