Analyst, Construction Accounting

As a member of Fitzrovia’s Accounting and Finance team, the Analyst, Construction Accounting will support the oversight of all financial activity related to Fitzrovia’s construction projects. This role is well suited for a detail-oriented individual who is looking to build their career in real estate accounting and gain hands‑on exposure to the full construction lifecycle.

This role is full‑time on-site, and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office Monday to Friday.
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000, plus a competitive performance-based annual bonus, based on skills and experience. Key Responsibilities:

Administer contract, change order, and purchase order management within the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring committed costs are accurately reflected and reconciled against approved project budgets
Collaborate with the construction team to monitor and summarize forecasted project risk, flagging cost overruns and potential budget exposures on a timely basis
Maintain and update detailed construction cost trackers, reconciling monthly draw activity against project budgets and providing variance commentary for management review
Perform ad hoc vendor reconciliations, including reviewing and resolving discrepancies, and administer holdback releases in accordance with contract terms and project milestones
Prepare contract award summaries and budget-to-actual analyses for inclusion in investor reporting packages
Support internal and external audit processes by organizing construction-related financial documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
Assist the Senior Manager, Construction Accounting with financial analysis, ad hoc reporting, special projects, and the continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting templates
Assist the Project Accountant in the preparation of monthly draw requests and related documentation in coordination with the Cost Monitor and lenders
Prepare annual T5018 filings for construction entities, ensuring compliance with CRA requirements
Qualifications and Experiences:
University degree in Business, Accounting, Construction Project Management or related discipline
2+ years of post-secondary work experience in an Accounting, Finance or Project Management role
CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation considered an asset
Experience in Real Estate, Construction, or Project Management is considered an asset
Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Jonas Premier, Yardi or similar platforms an asset
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
