Senior Accountant

Overview

The Mason Group is recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing accounting firm that’s looking to add a Senior Accountant to its dynamic team – This is NOT a public accounting role.

This role is a strong fit for a newly qualified CPA (or very close to designation) who is looking to build a career that combines technical accounting, taxation, client advisory, and exposure to strategic finance work.

• You will manage a portfolio of clients, oversee the accounting work delivered by our bookkeeping team, and act as the primary financial point of contact for clients across reporting, tax, compliance, and advisory matters.
• You will own client relationships from day one, build real depth across accounting, tax, and advisory, and work directly with experienced CPAs and firm leadership.
• As a Senior Accountant, you will own the financial relationship with a portfolio of clients. You will review work prepared by the bookkeeping team, deliver high-quality financial reporting and tax filings, and act as the trusted point of contact for client questions on accounting, tax, and finance.
• You will work closely with Service Delivery and Client Success teams to ensure clients receive accurate, timely, and well-explained financial information, while building skills in financial analysis, planning, and advisory.

• CPA designation or very close (Canadian CPA or internationally qualified — ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA US, or equivalent)
• Solid foundation in accounting standards and tax fundamentals
• Hands-on exposure to corporate and personal tax preparation and review
• Strong client-facing communication skills
• Experience at a public accounting firm (Big 4, mid-market, or boutique)
• Exposure to cloud accounting and tax tools such as Quick Books Online, Xero, or Case Ware
