Role OverviewThe Senior Accountant will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations across multiple restaurant, franchising, Canadian and U.S. entities within a growing QSR organization. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, payroll, government remittances, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end/quarter-end close activities.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position requires someone who can work independently, take ownership of processes, and support the financial health and operational success of the business through accurate reporting and strong financial controls.
What You’ll Do Full Cycle Accounting- Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple entities including restaurant operations, franchising, located both in Canada and U.S.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including variance analysis with explanatory notes
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations on a quarterly basis
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Support year-end audit with a Big 4 audit firm including preparation of working papers and responding to audit queries
- Manage full-cycle payroll across multiple companies
- Prepare and remit: PD7A, EHT, WSIB, WCB Alberta, WorkSafeBC
- Issue ROEs, prepare T4s and T2200s
- Reconcile payroll liabilities and employee expenses
- Prepare GST/HST calculations and filings
- Assist with income tax payable calculations
- Prepare transfer pricing calculations
Maintain deferred revenue schedules and waterfall worksheets
- Enter vendor bills and maintain AP records
- Perform credit card reconciliations
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in restaurant, retail, franchise, or multi-entity environments
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of full-cycle accounting and payroll
- Experience with month-end and financial statement preparation
- Comfortable managing multiple entities and priorities simultaneously
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of IFRS
- Understanding of Project/Job costing
- Experience with QBO/Quick Books Online considered an asset
- Candidates having Quick Books Online Certified Pro Advisor certification will be given preference
- Knowledge of project/job costing is an asset
- Salary between $80,000 and $85,000
