Work Arrangement: Primarily In-Office (4-5 days per week)

About the Opportunity
Our  Recruiting Division client is a well-established accounting practice specializing in Canadian and U.S. personal and corporate tax services in North York.

Due to continued growth and an upcoming retirement within our team, we are seeking an experienced Canadian & U.S. Tax Manager to join their firm.

This is a hands-on review role for an experienced tax professional who can immediately contribute by reviewing work, mentoring staff, and helping manage growing client volumes. The successful candidate will work directly with the firm's owner and play a key role in supporting both Canadian and U.S. tax operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Canadian and U.S. personal tax returns
  • Review Canadian and U.S. corporate tax returns
  • Review financial statements and compilation engagements
  • Review T1 and T2 tax returns prepared by junior staff
  • Provide technical guidance and support to preparers and junior reviewers
  • Assist with managing workflow and ensuring timely completion of tax engagements
  • Help reduce partner workload by handling technical reviews and client-related inquiries
  • Participate in quality control and compliance processes
  • Support ongoing growth of the firm's Canadian and U.S. tax practice
  • Team Structure
    The successful candidate will work closely with:

  • Firm Owner / Managing Partner
  • Multiple tax preparers
  • Existing review staff
  • Seasonal tax team during busy periods
  • The role will primarily focus on review rather than preparation work.

    Qualifications

    Required

  • Strong experience in both Canadian and U.S. taxation
  • Experience reviewing personal and corporate tax returns
  • Knowledge of Canadian corporate tax (T2) returns
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and compilation engagements
  • Strong technical tax knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Preferred

  • CPA designation or equivalent experience
  • Experience with cross-border Canadian/U.S. tax matters
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff
  • Experience reviewing complex U.S. personal and corporate returns
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tax preparation software
  • Technology
