Tax Manager

The ideal candidate will oversee all tax-related decisions and activities within the organization. This role is focused on domestic tax planning and compliance for a diverse private client base, with exposure to cross-border matters and a close partnership with senior tax leaders.

Responsibilities

• Perform tax research
• Mentoring junior staff and shaping best practices within the tax group
• Prepare and review tax returns
• Identify opportunities to minimize the effective tax rate
• Lead tax planning and compliance engagements for Canadian individuals and corporations
• Serve as tax lead on small and medium-sized client files
• Collaborate with the US Tax Team when cross-border filings are required
• Plan and organize tax return preparation, and review work for quality
• Conduct tax research and communicate findings
• Provide daily coaching and mentoring to junior tax team members
• Build strong relationships with clients and deliver exceptional service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance
• Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course is an asset
• 5-10+ years of experience in public accounting
• Strong technical expertise in personal, corporate, and trust returns; estate planning; and reorganizations
• Experience leading client engagements and developing junior staff
• Proficiency with Taxprep, Caseware, CCH (tax research), and Microsoft Office
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and analytical skills
