The Cost Controller is responsible for the budget monitoring and analysis of a specific scope within a large construction project. They ensure the quality and reliability of management data, actively participate in the preparation of financial reports, and ensure compliance with the cost control processes established by Management.

What you will do
  • Budget Management Support:
    Contribute to the preparation of the initial budget and periodic revisions (forecast at completion).
  • Budget Management Support:
    Monitor commitments, accrued costs, progress, and remaining work on a daily basis.
  • Budget Management Support:
    Update management databases and related operational tracking files, where applicable.
  • Reporting & Dashboards:
    Produce periodic budget monitoring reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) as defined by Management.
  • Reporting & Dashboards:
    Update operational dashboards (concrete tracking, labor, equipment, etc.).
  • Reporting & Dashboards:
    Participate in analyzing variances between budgeted and actual costs, and develop adjustment recommendations in close collaboration with operational teams.
  • Cost Recognition & Month-End Closures:
    Prepare accrued expense entries at the end of each reporting period (cut-off).
  • Cost Recognition & Month-End Closures:
    Verify the consistency of spending authorizations, committed costs, and forecasts.
  • Cost Recognition & Month-End Closures:
    Collaborate with the Procurement and Accounting departments to ensure the reliability of analytical accounting data.
  • Contract Monitoring & Compliance:
    Update budget tracking for subcontractor agreements, when applicable.
  • Contract Monitoring & Compliance:
    Participate in the collection and validation of strategic data and in the assessment of associated risks and opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement Support:
    Contribute to the implementation of internal procedures and propose process improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement Support:
    Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing management tools (reporting, ERP interfaces, Excel automation, etc.).
  • Continuous Improvement Support:
    Provide technical support during internal and external audits, as well as financial reviews.
This role could be for you if you have Technical Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of cost control fundamentals and budget monitoring.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, automation).
  • Familiarity with ERP environments (SAP is considered an asset).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and utilize Power BI reports developed by the support team.
  • Experience working within complex project environments, such as consortiums.
  • Understanding of project management concepts, including Earned Value Management (EVM).
