Position: Senior Tax Specialist / Senior Accountant
Our client, one of Canada's leading banks, is looking for a Senior Tax Specialist / Senior Accountant to join its Finance Tax Services team. This role will support estate and trust tax compliance by preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, conducting tax research, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring accurate, timely tax reporting while supporting day-to-day operations.
Contract: 6 months (with potential extension and/or FTE conversion)
Hybrid: 3 days onsite per week

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Prepare and review complex T1, T1 Terminal (Final), and T3 Trust/Estate tax returns.
  • Support estate and trust tax compliance, reporting, and tax planning activities.
  • Review tax assessments, resolve tax issues, and communicate with the CRA.
  • Mentor junior team members and support workflow management.
  • Conduct tax research and contribute to process improvements and special projects.
    • Must Have:
  • 3-5+ years of accounting or tax experience.
  • Experience preparing T1, T1 Terminal (Final), and T3 Trust/Estate tax returns.
  • Familiarity with Graduated Rate Estates (GREs).
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with Taxprep software.
  • Strong tax research and technical accounting skills.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to review work and mentor junior staff.
    • Nice to Have:
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA.
  • Experience with estate and trust taxation, including Rights & Things and Clearance Certificates.
  • Experience working in financial services or trust environments.
