Property Accountant

A diversified real estate organization is looking for a Property Accountant to join its collaborative accounting team. Reporting to the finance leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties. This role offers exposure to month-end reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and close collaboration with operational teams, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in property accounting.

• Prepare month-end journal entries and support the monthly close process
• Produce financial reporting packages, including supporting schedules and working papers
• Perform bank, balance sheet, and tax-related reconciliations
• Prepare annual operating budgets and assist with financial forecasting
• Support tenant recoveries, operating cost reconciliations, and year‑end billings
• Process and reconcile intercompany transactions and chargebacks
• Review invoices and expense allocations for accuracy and compliance
• Monitor cash flow and assist with cash management activities
• Partner with property management and operations teams to resolve accounting matters and support business objectives

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• CPA designation or progress toward a professional accounting designation is considered an asset
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property accounting
• Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations, budgets, and month-end reporting
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems
• Knowledge of property accounting principles is highly preferred
