  • Prepare month-end and quarter-end general journal entries for material financial transactions, including premiums, claims, reinsurance, expenses, and investments.
  • Track and bill reinsurance recoverables and settlements, and manage cash settlements and statements of accounts with reinsurers.
  • Prepare reinsurance schedules and regulatory reports related to ceded business, ensuring accurate application of reinsurance treaty contract terms, premium calculations, and commission structures.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual P&C1 Property and Casualty Insurance Core Financial Statement returns.

  • Analyze financial statements and ledger accounts, propose solutions to identified issues, and take ownership of implementing and resolving these solutions.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Assist with ad-hoc analytical reviews required to close quarterly technical results, providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to review budget performance and explain expense trends, supporting effective financial management.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process, including preparation of budgets, monthly forecasting, and expense budget-to-actual variance analysis.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and executive-ready commentary on financial results, variances, and financial outlook.
  • Collaborate with the actuarial team to understand claims development, reserves, loss ratios, and other key insurance performance metrics.
  • Analyze insurance contract liabilities and related movements under IFRS 17, ensuring accurate recognition and measurement.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end audit files, schedules, and working papers, and liaise with auditors to facilitate completion of the annual audit.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency through automation and standardization.
  • Utilize accounting systems such as Business Central and advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables, to support reporting and analysis activities.
Essential Skills
