Our client, a well-established and highly regarded law firm seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable, including reviewing invoices and expense reports, processing payments, and maintaining vendor records
  • Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable and outstanding balances
  • Assist with client billing and invoicing, including processing disbursements, write-offs, write-downs, and transfers
  • Prepare and revise client accounts and coordinate the billing process with lawyers and legal assistants
  • Maintain accurate financial and client records
  • Manage billing and client rates within the accounting system
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing procedures
  • Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure data accuracy
  • Assist with financial reporting and other accounting-related reports
  • Support general and trust audits and ensure compliance with applicable requirements
  • Provide general accounting support and assist with special projects as required

Requirements

  • Bookkeeping or accounting certification is preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting, accounts receivable, or related experience
  • Previous experience in a law firm or professional services environment is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Quick Books is required
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with legal practice management software, including Clio, is an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team

Compensation

  • Salary up to $70,000, commensurate with experience
