Our client is a leading, privately owned development company with decades of success delivering multifaceted real estate projects across the GTA. As the team continues to grow, they are seeking a Commercial Retail Construction Project Manager to represent ownership in the planning and execution of retail construction projects. This role manages projects from pre-construction through close-out, ensuring schedules, budgets, quality, and brand standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage pre-construction activities including budgeting, scheduling, and design coordination
- Serve as owner’s representative overseeing general contractors, consultants, and vendors
- Conduct site visits and lead project meetings to ensure quality and progress
- Coordinate tenant improvements, landlord scopes, and turnover requirements
- Interface with tenants, leasing teams, and property management to align construction with occupancy timelines
- Ensure brand standards and prototype requirements are properly executed
- Maintain accurate project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking
- Provide regular project reporting to ownership and internal teams
- Oversee punch lists, inspections, and project close-out documentation
- Project close-out, letter of credit recovery, and other duties as required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
- 5+ years of commercial retail construction experience (owner or developer side preferred)
- Basic understanding of construction drawings and project documentation
- Strong knowledge of tenant improvements, renovations, and ground-up retail projects
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in construction and project management software Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (Bluebeam, MS Project, Autodesk or similar software is an asset)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to attend project sites as required
