Reporting to the Superintendent, the Foreperson will be responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on schedule, in compliance with the contract, and all the work is completed safely, to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship. Opportunities for this position are available in the GTA. Please note that this position is unionized, therefore it will be a requirement to join the union upon acceptance.
What You'll Do Here:
Review utility locates and directional drill running lines prior to work commencement.Proactively identify, monitor, and mitigate site safety risks, and communicate control measures to the crew.Ensure all crew members strictly follow Aecon’s safety policies and safe work procedures Work closely with the Coordinator and Superintendent to support:
Daily and look‑ahead planning Scheduling and sequencing Material and equipment requirementsProvide daily digital progress updates and maintain accurate field documentation.Lead experienced crew members and coach and onboard new workers.Clearly communicate daily tasks, responsibilities, and expectations to the crew.Foster a positive, collaborative team environment across all construction crews.Represent Aecon professionally and respectfully when interacting with internal teams, clients, and the public.Set up and manage traffic control plans to ensure crew and public safety (multiple plans may be required per site).Complete regular site inspections and address deficiencies as required.What You Bring to the Team:
Underground Utility or Telecommunications construction experience.Able to read locates and verify utility markings (Gas, hydro, communications. Water, sewer, etc.)Strong leadership and communication skills.Walking, lifting, operating equipment, etc.Able to read drawings and keep documented diary up to date.Comfortable working long hours per day in all weather conditions.The expected hourly wage for this position is $41-$50/hr as per the current Collective Agreement. Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience and unique skills.
