Major infrastructure contractor is seeking a Contracts Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join their project teams in Vancouver, BC, and Toronto, ON. Salary ranges from $140,000 to $180,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to collaborate with our client on this full-time, permanent role.
The role involves maximizing project margins and adding value to the construction process through proactive involvement in cost management and reporting. Responsibilities include carrying out monthly financial reviews, forecasting final project costs and margins, and ensuring timely submission and negotiation of final accounts with clients, main contractors, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities of Contracts Manager
Negotiate commercial terms with subcontractors.
Review subcontract quotes and participate in procurement processes.
Ensure bonding requirements are met by subcontractors per the Commercial Plan.
Administer subcontractor performance and compliance.
Check progress applications and recommend payments.
Value change orders.
Assist with earned value reporting.
Coordinate with engineering and construction teams on subcontract terms and amendments.
Participate in claims or dispute resolutions.
Review subcontract final accounts and process back charges.
Suggest improvements in contract administration efficiency.
Manage claims from subcontractors and against the client.
Essential Functions
Oversee contractual compliance and execution.
Process progress payment requests, ensuring accuracy.
Handle release of holdbacks and final payments, ensuring all documentation is complete.
Manage contract close-out and evaluate contractor performance.
Implement all Health & Safety requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of contract execution and compliance.
Understanding of surety/letters of credit, bonds.
Awareness of commercial, cost control, risk management, and contract requirements.
Proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing.
Excellent organizational, documentation, and planning skills.
Strong communication skills.
Numerical competence and spreadsheet skills.
Experience with construction projects within fixed budgets.
Special Conditions
Travel within Canada and possibly relocation to various project sites may be required, as directed by project needs.
Experience/Qualifications
MRICS, CIOB, or working towards chartership.
Degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
5-10 years’ experience in contract administration.
Minimum 3 years in major infrastructure projects.
Experience in multinational joint ventures and Design Build in P3 environments.
Experience managing packages worth $10 million or more.
